Connecting Printer to Bluetooth

How to connect your printer to iOS Bluetooth

When you're connecting for the first time, here are the steps:

  1. Turn on the printer
  2. On your iOS device go to Settings
  3. Tap Bluetooth
  4. Make sure Bluetooth is ON
  5. If you've never connected to the printer, it won't show up under "My Devices", it will be under "Other Devices"
  6. Tap the device you think is the printer (If you aren't sure, turn the printer off and then on again and when it appears in the list of Bluetooth devices, you'll know that's the one!). Here are a few common printer names we've seen (if it doesn't match exactly, it doesn't mean something is wrong):
    1. TSC Alpha 3RB (Mobile tag printer): BTSPP
    2. TSC Alpha-30L (Mobile sticker printer): PS-C8E04A
    3. TSC DA220 (Desktop sticker printer): RF-BHS
    4. TSC MB240T (Industrial tag printer): RF-BHS
  7. After you select the printer, you'll be asked to put in a PIN: 0000 (four zeros)
  8. Then tap PAIR
  9. You should be in business, if not, here are a few troubleshooting steps:
    1. If you've already paired the printer once and it appears in the list of My Devices, tap the (i) next to the printer, then tap "Forget This Device" - this will allow you to follow the steps above and pair it as if it was the first time
    2. Try turning your iOS device off and then on again - sometimes a fresh reboot helps Bluetooth reset
    3. Make sure your iOS device has the latest version of BlueTrace installed
    4. Generally it's also a good practice is to keep your iOS device up to date on software updates from Apple too

When you've already paired the printer to your device, you simply need to connect to the printer in the app for subsequent usage:

  1. Make sure the printer is on
  2. Go to Settings in the BlueTrace app & tap Pair Printer or tap the printer icon at the top of many screens inside the app
  3. The printer you've already connected to will show up in the dialog
  4. Tap the printer name & you should be connected
