Can I connect to BlueTrace from Claude (AI)?

Yes.  The MCP connection will make it easy for you to use Claude with BlueTrace

How to link your BlueTrace account to Claude so you can ask questions about your data in plain English.

What is this?

Claude is an AI assistant. BlueTrace has built a secure connection — called an MCP server — that lets Claude read your BlueTrace data directly, so you can ask it questions in plain English instead of digging through screens and reports yourself.

MCP stands for “Model Context Protocol.” You don’t need to understand how it works under the hood — just think of it as a bridge that lets Claude look up things like your inventory, orders, and customers on your behalf, live, whenever you ask.

Good to know

This connection is read-only. Claude can look up your BlueTrace data, but it cannot create, edit, or delete anything in BlueTrace through this connection.

Your data only exists inside your conversation with Claude — it isn’t stored or shared anywhere else.

What you can ask Claude to do

Once connected, you can ask Claude natural-language questions like:

  • “What's low on inventory at [org name]?”
  • “Show me open sales orders for [customer].”
  • “Who are our top vendors for [product]?”
  • “Which customers haven't ordered in the last two weeks?”
  • “Compare pricing on [item] across our organizations.”

Behind the scenes, Claude pulls the current data straight from BlueTrace — purchases, sales orders, inventory, customers, vendors, and organization details — and puts it together into a clear answer.

How to connect (step by step)

You only need to do this once. It takes about a minute.

  1. Go to claude.ai and log in to your account.
  2. Click Settings, then Connectors (on a Team or Enterprise plan, an account Owner may need to add BlueTrace as an available connector first — see the note below).
  3. Look for BlueTrace in the connectors directory and click Connect. If it isn't listed yet for your organization, choose Add custom connector and enter the BlueTrace server address: https://app.blue-trace.com/
  4. If prompted, sign in to authorize the connection. This confirms Claude can only see the BlueTrace data your own login already has access to.
  5. That's it — BlueTrace now appears in your Connectors list. You can turn it on or off for any individual conversation using the “+” button near the message box, under Connectors.

If you're on a Team or Enterprise plan

An account Owner or Primary Owner may need to enable the BlueTrace connector for the whole organization first, under Organization Settings > Connectors. After that, each teammate connects individually using the steps above.

Using the connection in a conversation

When you start a new chat, make sure the BlueTrace connector is toggled on (via the “+” button, under Connectors). Then just ask your question normally — for example:

Example

“Pull up the current inventory and tell me what's running low.”

Claude will look up the live data from BlueTrace and answer directly in the chat. You don't need to know any special commands or formatting — plain English works.

Data & privacy notes
  • The connection is read-only — Claude can view data but cannot make changes in BlueTrace.
  • Data travels over an encrypted connection between Claude and BlueTrace.
  • Claude only sees what your own BlueTrace login is permitted to see — the same access rules that apply when you log in normally.
  • Data pulled into a conversation isn't permanently stored by Claude beyond that conversation.
  • You can disconnect BlueTrace at any time from Settings > Connectors.

Troubleshooting

I don't see BlueTrace in the Connectors list

Your organization may not have added it to the directory yet. Ask your BlueTrace account admin (or your Claude account Owner) to add it under Organization Settings > Connectors, or reach out to your BlueTrace contact for the connector address.

Claude says it can't find data for my organization

Double check you're asking about an organization your BlueTrace login has access to. If you manage multiple organizations, mention the organization by name in your question so Claude looks in the right place.

The connection was working before but isn't now

Connector authorizations can expire periodically for security. Go to Settings > Connectors, find BlueTrace, and reconnect — it takes a few seconds.
